King George's Hall - Blackburn

Welcome to King George’s Hall, a striking Grade II listed building in the heart of Blackburn, a prime location easily accessible and surrounded by local shops and attractions. For over two years, this venue has hosted our vibrant street dance events, offering a spectacular setting that blends historical grandeur with modern amenities. The hall boasts a beautifully preserved interior, featuring original plasterwork and Art Deco house lights, creating an elegant backdrop for our dynamic performances. Dancers particularly appreciate the superb floor, renowned for its excellent condition, which makes it a perfect canvas for dance. From its brief yet rich history—originating in the early 1900s as a visionary project to enrich the community—to the modern-day, King George’s Hall continues to be a favored destination for entertainment, combining architectural beauty with functionality for all types of events.

Directions & Car Parking

Parking: The King George’s Hall does not have onsite public parking. However, there are multiple large car parks nearby within walking distance.

Emergency Evacuation Procedure

In the event of a building evacuation venue staff will take the lead and give directions. There may be an announcement from stage. The Duty Manager will direct the evacuation. Please follow any instruction given to you by a uniformed member of staff.

The fire assembly point is outside Reel cinema. 

King George’s staff will assist in the opening of all fire exits to ensure a safe exit. Please vacate the building as calmly and quickly as is safe to do so.

Do not attempt to re-enter the venue unless instructed by the on-site staff or the attending fire officers. No access will be permitted until the Duty Manager or the attending officers give full site safety clearance.

If you are a responsible adult accompanying an event participant and it is safe to do so, please try to locate your dance school lead person at the assembly point to let them know that you have safely evacuated the building.

Changing Facilities

Dancers are strictly not permitted to change in the ballroom or the corridors unless they are wearing a base layer (leotard, shorts, or crop top). If anyone needs to change during their time with us, both male and female changing rooms will be clearly signposted in the Ballroom. Dancers of school age or younger must be accompanied by an adult or a chaperone while changing. Please ask a member of the OTB team if you are unsure where these are located.

Changing facilities are available and signposted For safeguarding reasons, participants up to school-leaving age must be accompanied by a responsible adult into the changing area. It is strictly prohibited to take photos or videos in this area. Changing in public areas is not permitted at our events and our staff will monitor this throughout the day. 

First Aid

Should anyone require medical assistance at any time during their visit, please alert any of our staff or venue staff. There will be multiple first aiders available throughout the event. 

Food & Drink Policy

The venue allows people to bring their own packed lunches inside. Hot takeaway food is not permitted to be brought inside unless it has been purchased inside the venue.
