Choosing an Event Suitable for Your Dance School

Here at On the Beat, we run various types of Street Dance competitions.  All our events are fun and have a real family feel to them. Some of our events are more tailored to beginners or dancers/ schools that don’t have as much experience at Street Dance competitions. Some of our events cater for more experienced dancers. Please see some more information below that should help you decide which events will be most suited to your school and your dancers. If you’re still unsure, send us a message and we may be able to help. We love hosting competitions and seeing dancers & dance schools of all sizes and levels grow over time across our various events.

Our regular/ main events held at various large venues

These are suitable for all levels from beginners through to advanced competitive dancers. Usually up to five or six sections for dancers to enter over the day including teams/set routine solos/ freestyle Street Dance solos/ duos/ fun duos. We usually have more schools attend these events and so the sections are usually a little busier and the standard slightly higher than our smaller events. The day is usually split into 2 sections- 11 & under/ 12 & over so dancers typically attend for half a day. All dancers are awarded a medal for taking part. Tickets vary between £15-£17.50 (advanced ticket price, door tickets are usually slightly more).

Our smaller/friendly events held in smaller venues

Theses are aimed at more of a beginner level as the venue is smaller so less people attend. We have more age categories and set routine options so there’s usually not as many in dancers in each category. Dancers can enter 2 solo options (either 2 set routines or 1 set routine & 1 freestyle solo). Plus 1 team event and sometimes we run a duo section at these events too. Ideal for dancers who are new to competing that you may not want to go straight out into a big event. Intermediate dancers welcome to attend however they must enter the higher level set routines. This is a shorter day than our bigger events. The day is usually split into three or four sections so dancers typically attend for 2-3 hours for their events. All dancers are awarded a medal for taking part. Tickets vary between £13-£15 (advanced ticket price, door tickets are usually slightly more).

Our solo/ duo only events

Suitable for all levels. Dancers can enter 2 solo options (either 2 set routines or 1 set routine & 1 freestyle solo) & 1 duo event. Great competition practice for the larger events. A shorter day for all involved. The day is usually split into three or four sections so dancers typically attend for 2-3 hours for their events. All dancers are awarded a medal for taking part. Tickets vary between £13-£14 (advanced ticket price, door tickets are usually slightly more).

Our 2 day event- Street Series

Our favourite competition! This is an event run over 2 days. Starting Saturday afternoon and finishing Sunday evening. Up to 10 sections dancers can enter over the weekend plus workshops from our amazing judges.  Suitable for all levels. Tickets also available for single days. Tickets £18 for single day/ £33 for weekend pass. (advanced ticket price, door tickets are usually slightly more).
