We are delighted to be taking over this amazing venue for our event. Please see some useful information below to help you plan your time with us.

Please can we ask that if any attendees have any questions about the event after reading the below info that they direct these towards teachers first who will then get in touch with us on your behalf if they cant answer.

Overall schedule

Saturday afternoon-evening will be for dancers aged 12 & over

Sunday will be for dancers age 11 years &under and the events will be split into two main sections for solos & duos (section 1- 7 years & under, section 2- 8 years & over) with all the teams in one section combined in the middle of the day (also in this middle section will be for parents/ parent & child event).

*Parents solos available on both days

Important information for solo & duo events- After the first rounds of each event, the recalls will go out of order. To help us stick to schedule, please make sure dancers are ready for their first round as well as their recalls . Your teacher will also have a copy of the recall results if you are unsure. Numbers will also be called once by the compere for each event. We will be unable to wait for any dancers that are not ready for their event. If anyone is unsure whether they should be on, please come and stand in front of the stage and we can quickly confirm so that nobody misses their event.

The numbers for duos will be different to numbers for solo events. Please make sure you use the different number allocated to you for duo events.

Awards for solo & duos events- Awards will be presented immediately after each final in reverse order. Once the lineup is complete, there will be a photo opportunity (one person only please per dancer at this time (plus teachers)) whilst the next event make their way onto the floor. Please refrain from coming onto the floor to take any photos until the lineup is complete. if taking photos, please leave the floor at the side rather than walking through the middle of the floor.

Awards for team events- All teams will receive an award in our presentation. We will present all team categories in reverse order. Please can schools nominate 1 or 2 people to take a photo of each team with the judge. This can be immediately as that team is called out to the floor.

All dancers will receive an award for taking part in this event. Teachers will be given these at the start of the day for all dancers.

Team feedback will be sent directly to teachers within 1 week of the event.

Food & drink policy– Blackpool Tower strictly prohibit guests to bring own food & drink into the venue, with the exception of 1 x 500ml sealed bottled of water. Any other food & drink items will be confiscated and can be collected from the security team on departure. Anyone with allergies/medical conditions requiring own food to be brought in must bring proof of this to present to the Tower security team.

There will be plenty of hot and cold food available in the Ballroom throughout the day including options for vegan, vegetarian & gluten free. The bar will also be open serving hot and cold drinks.

Video/ Photography Policy – We do not permit members of the general public to access our competitions unless part of a registered dance school. With this in mind, we feel comfortable to allow parents to take videos of their own child during the Solos & Duos sections of the event. If sharing on social media, please consider your privacy settings so that viewing of the videos is restricted to your close friends and family. If any dancer or parent has any concerns about this, please make your dance teacher aware and they will bring this to our attention. We do however have a very strict no video policy for all of the Team events. The school will be permitted to have 1 nominated person film the team from the front and then they in turn will share this with parents at their own discretion. At this event we will also allow 1 other person to film from the top balcony as there is a great view from here however this person must be made clear to us prior to the team dancing by the teacher. Any breaches to this rule may result in the team event being stopped. Team photos are permitted- please make it clear this is a photograph by moving the device down after a couple of seconds.

Other Health/Safety and Safeguarding points – On arrival at the venue, please familiarise yourself with your nearest fire exits. There aren’t any fire drills scheduled so if the alarm sounds, please proceed to the nearest exit immediately. Please keep all gangways onto the dance floor clear at all times. Please make sure you that you can see your child at all times. Where possible, please try to arrive at the competition with dancers dressed for their first event. Should a dancer need to get changed at any point, please use the toilet/changing area. Please do not allow children to get undressed in the Ballroom.

Allocated seating- All seating will be reserved clearly with your dance school name.

Merchandise– Our stall will be located outside the entrance to the ballroom.

Parking- The venue does not have it’s own car park however there is plenty of car parks and on street parking around the venue.

Wristbands & arrival procedure-  Please have your wristbands on and fastened securely before entering the building ready for inspection. Please note that it causes delays when attendees don’t have bands fastened in advance. Lost or damaged wristbands will not be replaced and will have to be repurchased. Photographs of wristbands left at home and teachers vouching for bands being purchased will not be accepted. If you remove your wristband, you will not be permitted to re enter the ballroom. Please see our wristband policy here- https://www.onthebeat.dance/wristband-prices/

Tickets will be available on the door at the door price (£27 for one day, £37 for two days) for spectators only that are part of a dance school booked on to the event. Priority access will be given to people that have purchased an advanced wristband. Please note that if you are purchasing wristbands on the door that we may need to ask your teacher to confirm you are part of their school so you may need to be prepared to wait a few minutes for this process to happen. All dancers must be entered in advance for this competition and we will not be accepting entries on the day of the event.

After arriving via the promenade entrance, guests will be directed towards a bag search area and will be invited to join the main queue up to the ballroom ready for the ballroom doors opening.

New for 2024 & exclusive to this event…Spotlight Dancer Awards:
Almost like the ‘tops of’ event that we run at our weekender but this time all finalists of that section are invited to compete again. Judges will converse with each other and immediately award their chosen dancer on the spot. Lot’s of suspense and excitement for this one! This will be run for all set routines and freestyle solo categories.

Any dancers who make a final, please make sure you standby for spotlight awards which will be at the end of each of each main section of solos at each event (see schedule)

OTB PARTY DANCE!
We have been delighted at the response to our first party dance! So much so that we are going to have a competition for best school on both days. Whenever you hear the track ‘Timber’ being played, you have to join us on the dance floor and join in the dance. And we would like to see everyone wearing some funky accessories. This could be cowboy hats, funky headbands, glasses, wigs etc. At the following times  we will be choosing a best dance school for effort on accessories and dance.
