Who’s ready to join us in the most famous Ballroom in the world?  We are absolutely delighted to be back at this stunning  venue for this special event. Please see below some information to help you plan your day with us.

The event will be held inside the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Please note there are 2 entrances to the Tower and it will be the one on the promenade that will be used on the day.

The event will be divided into 3 main sections. Please see below the split of ages over these sections. Dancers involved in teams, please check with your teacher the age category your team is dancing in in case it falls under a different section to your solos & duos events.

Section 1- All events for dancers age 7 years & under
Section 2- All events for dancers age 8-11 years
Section 3- All events for dancers age 12 years and over.
Note- Parents events & additional support needs solos will be split between the end of Section 2 and just before Section 3 (more details shown below)

Important information for solo & duo events- Please note below the events that are split into heats and the numbers for each heat. Please make sure you know which heat you/ your child is dancing in (applies to first round only, teachers will be sent this info before the event). After the first rounds of each event, the recalls will go out of order. The compere will continuously announce the 3 upcoming events so that dancers can be ready to listen for their numbers and should be close by to the floor and their teacher when they know their event is near. To help us stick to schedule, please make sure dancers are ready for their first round (order listed below) as well as their recalls as we announce they are coming up. Your teacher will also have a copy of the recall results if you are unsure. Numbers will also be called once by the compere for each event. We will be unable to wait for any dancers that are not ready for their event. Please note that this responsibility lies with parents/guardians and not just with teachers. If anyone is unsure whether they should be on, please come and stand in front of the stage and we can quickly confirm so that nobody misses their event.

The numbers for duos will be different to numbers for solo events. Please make sure you use the different number allocated to you for duo events.

Awards for solo & duos events- Please note the awards of all solos & duo events will run in the same order as the first rounds listed below. Please can all finalists be ready close to the floor to collect their award. We will usually run 2 presentations at once. Attendees may take photos of the line up however please can we ask that you wait until the compere has all the dancers in the line-up for that event before you come onto the floor to do this.

Awards for team events- All teams will receive an award in our presentation. We will present all team categories in reverse order. Please can schools nominate 1 or 2 people to take a photo of each team with the judge. This can be immediately as that team is called out to the floor.

All dancers will receive an award for taking part in this event. Teachers will be given these at the start of the day for all dancers.

Food & drink policy– Blackpool Tower strictly prohibit guests to bring own food & drink into the venue, with the exception of 1 x 500ml sealed bottled of water. Any other food & drink items will be confiscated and can be collected from the security team on departure. Anyone with allergies/medical conditions requiring own food to be brought in must bring proof of this to present to the Tower security team.

There will be plenty of hot and cold food available in the Ballroom throughout the day. The bar will also be open serving hot and cold drinks.

Video/ Photography Policy – We do not permit members of the general public to access our competitions unless part of a registered dance school. With this in mind, we feel comfortable to allow parents to take videos of their own child during the Solos & Duos sections of the event. If sharing on social media, please consider your privacy settings so that viewing of the videos is restricted to your close friends and family. If any dancer or parent has any concerns about this, please make your dance teacher aware and they will bring this to our attention. We do however have a very strict no video policy for all of the Team events. The school will be permitted to have 1 nominated person film the team from the front and then they in turn will share this with parents at their own discretion. Any breaches to this rule may result in the team event being stopped. Team photos are permitted- please make it clear this is a photograph by moving the device down after a couple of seconds.

Other Health/Safety and Safeguarding points – On arrival at the venue, please familiarise yourself with your nearest fire exits. There aren’t any fire drills scheduled so if the alarm sounds, please proceed to the nearest exit immediately. Please keep all gangways onto the dance floor clear at all times. Please make sure you that you can see your child at all times. Where possible, please try to arrive at the competition with dancers dressed for their first event. Should a dancer need to get changed at any point, please use the toilet/changing area. Please do not allow children to get undressed in the Ballroom.

Allocated seating- All seating will be reserved clearly with your dance school name. There will also be an unreserved area on the 2nd balcony for any schools to use. We encourage anyone arriving early to use the area before their sections start.

Merchandise– Our stall will be located  inside the ballroom.

Parking- The venue does not have it’s own car park however there is plenty of car parks and on street parking around the venue.

Wristbands & arrival procedure-  Please have your wristbands on and fastened securely before entering the building ready for inspection. Please note that it causes delays when attendees don’t have bands fastened in advance. Lost or damaged wristbands will not be replaced and will have to be repurchased. Photographs of wristbands left at home and teachers vouching for bands being purchased will not be accepted. If you remove your wristband, you will not be permitted to re enter the ballroom. Please see our wristband policy here- https://www.onthebeat.dance/wristband-prices/

Tickets will be available on the door at the door price (£25) for spectators only that are part of a dance school booked on to the event. Priority access will be given to people that have purchased an advanced wristband. Please note that if you are purchasing wristbands on the door that we may need to ask your teacher to confirm you are part of their school so you may need to be prepared to wait a few minutes for this process to happen. All dancers must be entered in advance for this competition and we will not be accepting entries on the day of the event.

After arriving via the promenade entrance, guests can make their way up the stairs towards the circus foyer.
